PROVENCE TOUR
On behalf of History for the Curious, we are excited to share with you details of our upcoming trip to the Southern France 1st – 4th June.
From the 3rd century onwards, there are records of Jewish life here. Our journey will take us through the beautiful Grand Synagogue and the WWII history in the area. We will also take a stunning boat trip along the Calanques and the Mediterranean coast as well as a tour of the beautiful miniature canyons.
The walled city which was home to the Ralbag, the Redak and other scholars. Nearby Carpentras has a 14th century mikveh & a matza bakery from the time of the Carriere in its tiny alleyways.
Where we discover the history of Jewish physicians in the 11th c. and the Kevarim of the Rishonim who lived and wrote in Provence, such as the Ra'avad and his son. We travel from there to Arles to see the 2,000 year old Roman buildings and their Jewish meaning
As usual, our international speakers will be Rabbi Aubrey Hersh - who will be guiding and discussing the history alongside Rabbi Akiva Tatz – who will be challenging the audience to do some lateral thinking.
Our maximum is 30 people and the tour is open to any age range.
Our accommodation at hotels in the georgous region, will be accompanied by catered meals. For more details about kashrus or for any food requirements, please email us.
